Former Sounders forward Eddie Johnson had a busy afternoon on Twitter during Seattle’s disappointing 2-0 loss to New York City FC Saturday.
The retired striker apparently was less than thrilled with what he was seeing on the field, throwing shade at first-year forward Nelson Valdez, implying Valdez hasn’t lived up to his salary thus far.
Johnson launched a series of tweets ripping Valdez and arguing his $100,000 salary was a bargain in comparison to Valdez’s. Johnson’s frustrations with his MLS compensation has also been no secret.
“What I’ve learned through all of this is that you work for a business,” Johnson said in a recent interview with the Seattle Times.
