On Sunday, former Seattle Sounders winger Aaron Kovar announced his retirement. Kovar, 25, signed a Homegrown Player deal with the Sounders in January 2014. He played in 43 MLS matches, including 32 with the Rave Green and 11 with LAFC while on loan in 2018. In November, he was out of contract with the club and opted to retire a few months later.
Known for his strong left foot, Kovar was one of the first professional players to come out of Sounders Academy, where he played from 2010-12. He was named the 2011 Gatorade Washington State Player of the Year after helping Garfield to the 2010 league title.
