It looks like the Seattle Sounders are officially in the market for a new backup right back.
FC Cincinnati effectively ensured that Saad Abdul-Salaam won’t return to the Sounders after selecting him in Stage 2 of the MLS Re-Entry Draft. The Sounders had previously declined Abdul-Salaam’s contract option — presumably a significant increase over the $70,250 league minimum he was reportedly paid last year. Cincinnati will have the option of negotiating a new deal with Abdul-Salaam and will retain his MLS rights as long as they extend a “bonafide” offer. Toronto FC’s selection of Juan Agudelo was the only other pick during the draft.
