Ex-Seattle Sounder, Washington native Sean Okoli named 2016 USL MVP

The United Soccer League has named former Seattle Sounder and Federal Way, Wash., native Sean Okoli 2016 Most Valuable Player.

Okoli scored 16 goals and recorded three assists in 29 matches for FC Cincinnati in its inaugural season. The USL Golden Boot winner was a member of the Sounders youth academy in 2010 and ’11 before playing three years of college soccer at powerhouse Wake Forest.

“It was a very fun season for me, especially coming from where I was the last two years,” Okoli said. “I wasn’t getting much playing time, and to have the situation at Cincinnati, playing in front of all the fans and playing attacking soccer, I couldn’t ask for more.
