After spending a few weeks as a trialist, Diego Capel impressed the coaching staff, as well as teammates with his touch on the ball, up field burst and ability to take on defenders. Brian Schmetzer himself, after having enough time to evaluate Capel’s skill set, seemed pleased to have a player of his caliber with the Seattle Sounders.
“Good player, good passer, good vision, he is a very experienced player,” said Brian. He added, “Having an experienced international player like that can add a little bit to training.” That is undeniable considering that at 30 years old, Diego has not only played over 200 games in Europe but has also won titles such as Copa del Rey, UEFA Cup with Sevilla and U-21 titles with Spain.
