With the Tacoma Defiance’s move from the USL Championship to MLS Next Pro, there were bound to be some changes to the way the Seattle Sounders handle their development pipeline. One of those changes promises to be how often and for whom the organization utilizes loans.
In the past, loans have been primarily used at the first-team level and often as sort of a last-chance of sorts for young players. With the move to MLS Next Pro, we may end up seeing more Defiance players loaned to USL Championship teams.
The first of those will likely be Ray Serrano to Louisville City, Sounder at Heart has confirmed.
