U.S. captain Carli Lloyd and Lionel Messi of Argentina collected 2015 player-of-the-year awards at FIFA’s annual awards ceremony in Zurich, Switzerland.
Jill Ellis, who guided the U.S. team to victory in the World Cup, was voted women’s coach of the year.
Lloyd, 33, briefly was so overcome with emotion she couldn’t speak.
