Andreas Ivanschitz could miss rest of season

Seattle Sounders midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz was forced to come off early in Wednesday’s match against the Houston Dynamo, for what has been identified as a head coach Brian Schmetzer deemed a “slight knee sprain.”

The injury occurred in the 10th minute while Ivanschitz was making a run into the box, eventually have his close-range shot saved. Shortly after, he went to the ground and was eventually removed from the field.

An MRI was done on Thursday morning, and Schmetzer said the team can definitely say that Ivanschitz will be unavailable for Sunday’s road game in Dallas. As for the home game against Real Salt Lake on the last day of the regular season?
