Although a return always seemed a bit unlikely, Andreas Ivanschitz made his departure from the Seattle Sounders official on Tuesday. The Austrian made the announcement on Twitter.

2/3 I would like to thank my teammates, the coaching staff and every member in the front office for an incredible experience...

Ivanschitz was among a group of veterans on whom the Sounders declined options and GM Garth Lagerwey had indicated that the midfielder was unlikely to return, even at a reduced salary.
