Bruce Arena called 32 MLS players into winter camp with the U.S. national team Thursday, among them four Seattle Sounders — but not Clint Dempsey.
Getting the call were Brad Evans (26 caps), Jordan Morris (12 caps), Chad Marshall (11 caps, but none since 2010) and goalie Stefan Frei. Frei, who was born in Switzerland, received his first callup. He’s able to participate in training camp while the process to allow him to represent the U.S. is completed by FIFA.
(Gambian-born midfielder Kekuta Manneh of Vancouver is also undergoing this process and was called up to his first camp, too.
