The amount of money Marshawn Lynch has saved during his NFL career is nothing short of impressive. While far too many athletes end up going broke before or even during their playing careers, Lynch shouldn't be one of them.
In his NFL career, Lynch has earned $49.7 million. He hasn't spent a single cent of it, per Ian Rapoport.
"Marshawn Lynch has a lot of money," Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network said during a radio segment on The Ian & Puck Show. "He hasn’t spent a dime of his actual playing money ... ever."
Instead, Lynch has managed to live off of other business deals and endorsements. That saving is part of the reason why Lynch was able to (literally) hang up his cleats and retire yesterday.
With his retirement, Lynch ends his nine-year career with 9,112 yards. In his prime, he posted four straight 1,200 yard-plus seasons from 2011-14 after being traded from the Buffalo Bills to Seattle. Thanks to his shrewd financial planning, Lynch should be able to enjoy his retirement and not have to worry about going broke.
