The Seattle Seahawks cut ties with veteran offensive lineman J'Marcus Webb on Tuesday, just eight months after signing him to a two-year, $6 million free-agent deal in March.
Webb, 28, was expected to start at right tackle for Seattle after coming over from the Oakland Raiders, but calf and knee injuries sidelined him for much of the team's offseason program and limited him to just two preseason games. He was never able to stake a claim to the right tackle spot, which instead went to incumbent Garry Gilliam.
Webb ended up seeing action in eight of the Seahawks' ten games this season, starting the first three at right guard after rookie first-round pick Germain Ifedi was injured in practice ahead of the regular-season opener.
