Oklahoma State safety Tre Flowers was selected by the Seahawks in the fifth round, one of their 38 picks today. Okay, just eight, but it sure seems like more than that. Flowers wasn’t one of the top-rated safeties in this draft, but he certainly brings a particular set of skills to the game.
For one, he can tackle. Pro Football Focus didn’t even rank him, despite the fact they have him listed as the fourth most efficient tackler among all safeties last year. If you were wondering, he missed just five out of 777 attempts. Tackling tends to be important for safeties, so I think I might have ranked him somewhere.
