Source: Hawks to cut CB Williams after 10 starts

RENTON, Wash. -- After starting the first 10 games of the season, cornerback Cary Williams is no longer a member of the Seattle Seahawks.

A league source has confirmed that Williams will be released. NFL Network first reported the news.

In the offseason, Williams signed a three-year, $18 million deal with $7 million guaranteed. He was slated to replace Byron Maxwell, who left as a free agent.

Williams, 30, was inconsistent through the first 10 games. Coach Pete Carroll benched him during a Week 11 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, and Williams was replaced by DeShawn Shead and was inactive the next two games.
