Seattle Seahawks waive WR Chris Matthews

The Seahawks are waiving receiver and Super Bowl hero Chris Matthews. The move was first reported by Mike Garafolo of FoxSports and since confirmed by a league source.

Matthews had four catches for 109 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl — the only catches he made in the 2014 season of any kind.

But he failed to replicate that success this season with just four catches for 54 yards this season.

He had two targets against Arizona Sunday without a catch, including a deep pass down the sideline on the second play that fell incomplete.
