This game features two of the NFL’s top four quarterbacks this season by any statistical measure. Carolina’s Cam Newton appears certain to win the NFL MVP Award after he led the Panthers to an NFL-best 31.2 points per game, throwing for 35 TDs and running for 10 more. Some of Seahawks QB Russell Wilson’s stats were better — he had an NFL-best passer rating of 110.1 to Newton’s 99.4. Wilson has one other huge advantage — playoff wins — having already recorded seven in nine games to Newton’s one in three games.
