Friday was guarantee day for some of the Seahawks’ biggest stars.
The fifth day of the post-Super Bowl waiver period wasn’t just a good one for Kam Chancellor. On Friday, Russell Wilson, Doug Baldwin and Justin Britt had clauses in their contracts activated that guarantee portions of their 2018 salaries.
Wilson got $4.9 million of his $15.5 million base salary for this year guaranteed. That’s part of the franchise quarterback’s $87.6 million extension he signed in the summer of 2015, through the 2019 season. The price to extend Wilson beyond 2019 just spiked again this week when division-rival San Francisco signed far-less-accomplished quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a record $137.
