Seattle Seahawks injury update: Jesse Williams to play in preseason opener months after cancer surgery

Defensive tackle Jesse Williams will take the field in the Seattle Seahawks’ preseason opener Friday night, just over two months removed from surgery to remove a cancerous kidney.

The 24-year-old defensive tackle, who missed his first two NFL seasons with knee injuries suffered in training camp, was diagnosed with papillary Type 2 renal cancer in May. That required surgery to remove a kidney later that month.
