RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks cut 15 players, trimming their roster to the NFL-mandated 75 players. Here's a closer look at the first cuts:
Most significant move: Waiving Patrick Lewis. When the Seahawks' offense took off in the second half of last year and averaged 31.25 points per game, Lewis was the starting center. Now he's off the team. The coaches like what they've seen from Justin Britt, who is making the move to center from left guard, but Lewis would have provided a nice insurance policy. Instead, the Seahawks appear to be going with rookie Joey Hunt, who is a less expensive option.
