Seattle Seahawks bring back offensive lineman JR Sweezy

After an injury-laden stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, J.R. Sweezy is returning to the Seattle Seahawks.

The team announced on Wednesday that Sweezy has rejoined the fold, while injured guard Avery Young has been waived.

Drafted as a defensive lineman before Tom Cable converted him into an offensive lineman, Sweezy played in 13 games (3 started) for the Seahawks in 2012, and was Seattle’s full-time starting right guard from 2013-2015. Sweezy would leave Seattle in free agency and sign a five-year, $32.5 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he missed all of 2016 due to back problems, and in December 2017 he broke a bone in his leg, cutting his season short.
