The Seattle Seahawks released 20 players to get their roster to the 53-man limit by Saturday’s 1 p.m. Pacific deadline.
Among the most notable names let go was veteran cornerback Will Blackmon, who was at one time the favorite to win Seattle’s nickel corner spot in place of an injured Jeremy Lane. Other notable cuts included tight end Anthony McCoy, who was attempting to make the team after missing the last two seasons with Achilles injuries, and former Washington Huskies wide receivers Kevin Smith and Kasen Williams.
Seattle also acquired safety Kelcie McCray from the Kansas City Chiefs for an undisclosed draft choice.
