Well, that’s that. The Seattle Seahawks have waived defensive tackle Malik McDowell, the team announced on Thursday as training camp opens for 2018. The team also cut ties with cornerback DeAndre Elliott. Both missed 2017 with injuries and don’t look to be a part of the Seahawks near-term plans.
McDowell, a second-round pick out of Michigan State last year, was Seattle’s top pick in the 2017 draft, but never played for the Seahawks, the result of a head injury sustained in a vehicular accident last summer. Elliott made the team as an undrafted rookie out of Colorado State in 2016, appearing in 13 games, then missed all of last season, the result of a leg injury sustained in the preseason.
