The Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos met in the 2022 opener under very different circumstances. It was Russell Wilson’s debut as Broncos quarterback and the start of the Geno Smith era for the Seahawks. The Seahawks won 17-16 in wild circumstances on their way to a playoff appearance, while the Broncos fired Nathaniel Hackett within his first season and moved on from Wilson this past offseason.
Most of the players from both 2022 rosters are now on other teams. This is the start of the Mike Macdonald era after the Seahawks dismissed Pete Carroll as head coach. It’s the debut for rookie quarterback Bo Nix, the Wilson replacement in Denver under second-year coach Sean Payton.
