Seahawks training camp notebook: Jeanpierre the frontrunner to replace Unger

RENTON — With the Seahawks one week away from opening their preseason schedule against the Denver Broncos, the biggest unsettled position battle remains at center, where Lemuel Jeanpierre, Drew Nowak, Patrick Lewis and Kristjan Sokoli have competed through the first seven days of training camp.

Good news for 12s: Finding a center with knowledge of offensive line coach Tom Cable’s zone-blocking scheme shouldn’t be hard. Jeanpierre, a six-year veteran, has served as Max Unger’s backup since January of 2011, when the Seahawks signed him from the practice squad to the postseason roster.
