Seahawks shakeup running back corps, waive RB Christine Michael; also waive DT Sealver Siliga while signing DT John Jenkins

The Seahawks on Tuesday waived running back Christine Michael, likely bringing to an end one of the more roller-coaster careers in recent Seahawks’ history. The move was first reported by NFL.com.

The Seahawks also waived defensive tackle Sealver Siliga.

Michael was the team’s first pick in the 2013 NFL draft, taken No. 62 overall, viewed at the time as the heir apparent to Marshawn Lynch. But after failing to make much of a dent on the depth chart in 2013 and 2014, he was traded to Dallas for a seventh-round pick before the 2015 season. But when injuries shelved Thomas Rawls and Marshawn Lynch, Michael was re-signed (having been waived by Dallas) and momentarily revived his career, rushing for 102 yards in a late-season win at Arizona and leading the team with 70 yards on 21 carries in its wildcard playoff win at Minnesota.
