Seahawks rookie QB Trevone Boykin pleads down, avoids jail in assault case

Seahawks rookie quarterback Trevone Boykin pleaded down to charges of resisting arrest in a New Year's Eve incident in San Antonio that could have landed him a year in jail.

On Thursday, the 22-year-old Boykin received one year's deferred adjudication probation in Bexar County Court and was fined $1,500 plus court costs. He will be allowed to served the bulk of his probation -- which includes 80 hours of community service and a requirement to take an anger-management course -- in Seattle.

If he completes the probation requirements, the conviction won't register on his permanent record.

Boykin said he was relieved to resolve the incident.
