Ian Rapoport reports that the Seahawks are releasing DL Ahtyba Rubin after they were unable to trade him.
Rubin, 31, is a former sixth-round pick of the Browns back in 2008. He spent seven years in Cleveland before signing a one-year deal with the Seahawks.
He is entering the second year of a three-year, $12 million contract that contained $5.5 million guaranteed. Rubin is set to earn a base salary of $1.7 million this year to go along with another $3.3 million in 2018.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Rubin will create $3,000,000 in dead money and just $700,000 in available cap space.
