RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks have released wide receiver Chris Matthews and signed wide receiver Kevin Smith from the practice squad.
The Seahawks made the roster moves Tuesday. Matthews made an impression in the Super Bowl with four catches for 109 yards and a touchdown and was in line to be the game MVP. But Matthews never got involved in Seattle's offense this season. He had just four catches and was rarely used in offensive sets.
Smith played collegiately at nearby Washington and was signed to the Seahawks practice squad after an impressive showing in the preseason.
