Seahawks release Stanley Jean-Baptiste

The Seattle Seahawks have waived/injured cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste on Tuesday. The move comes three days after Jean-Baptiste seriously hurt his shoulder in the team’s preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs and corresponds with the signing of defensive tackle Tony McDaniel. The move clears up the cornerback battle somewhat, but Jean-Baptiste was seen as a longshot to make the roster.

That wasn’t the feeling last December however when they signed him.

The Seahawks picked up Jean-Baptiste last season after he was released from the Detroit Lions’ practice squad. At 6’3, 218 lbs, Baptiste was compared to Richard Sherman when he entered the 2014 NFL Draft out of Nebraska, and the New Orleans Saints picked him with the 58th overall selection.
