The Seahawks had plans to bring in Colin Kaepernick for a workout as they search for a backup quarterback to Russell Wilson, but postponed the meeting when he said he would not promise to stop kneeling during the national anthem if he were to play next season.
The news was first reported Thursday by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and later confirmed by the Times.
A source told the Times that the Seahawks asked Kaepernick what his plans would be for his off-field activities and that Kaepernick — who kneeled for the anthem during his most recent season in the NFL with the 49ers in 2016 — said he didn’t know.
