RENTON -- Rookie running back Kelvin Taylor is the next "next man up" for the Seahawks.
The 23-year-old Taylor, the son of former Jacksonville Jaguars Pro Bowler Fred Taylor, joined Seattle's practice squad on Nov. 30 before being released on Thursday. The 5-foot-10, 205-pounder was a sixth-round draft choice of the 49ers out of Florida in the spring, but was cut by San Francisco on Sept. 3.
He'll take Troymaine Pope's roster spot after the undrafted rookie sprained his right ankle for the second time in three weeks in Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
