The Seattle Seahawks are swapping backup quarterbacks.
On Saturday it was reported that the team was signing former Oregon State star Sean Mannion, but since the Seahawks were already at 90 players they need to make a corresponding move. The answer was to waive Danny Etling, who was on the Seahawks’ practice squad last season.
Mannion has ties with Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, having been with the Los Angeles Rams from 2015-2018. He was most recently with the Minnesota Vikings from 2019-2020. Overall he’s appeared in 11 games and started the 2018 Week 17 regular season finale, but he’s yet to throw a touchdown pass and has tossed three picks.
