Sunday the Seattle Seahawks fell to 2-4 on the season in a heartbreaking overtime loss on the road to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was the first time since 2011 that a quarterback other than Russell Wilson started at quarterback for Seattle, and while Geno Smith played well, in the end it was not enough.
With Wilson on injured reserve for at least two more games, and with backup quarterback Jake Luton only eligible to be elevated from the practice squad one more time this season, it was apparent that the Hawks would likely need to address the quarterback situation in advance of the Week 8 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
