For the first time since that monumental trade, the Seattle Seahawks will not have any draft picks tied to the performance of Russell Wilson’s current team. That could change if the Pittsburgh Steelers do any in-season trades with Seattle, but for now there’s nothing at stake.
After a quarterback competition between Wilson and former Chicago Bears starter Justin Fields, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has unsurprisingly declared Wilson as the Week 1 starter.
“Russ’ resume is a unique one in terms of length and success,” Tomlin said. “That tends to play a factor in the decision making, but not from a decision-making perspective.
