There’s always a surprise or two during cut down day and this year, the first surprise came early on. According to The Athletic’s Michael-Shawn Dugar, the Seahawks have waived Shaquem Griffin as a part of their cut down to 53 players.
The Seahawks are waiving DE/LB Shaquem Griffin, per source. A 2018 fifth-round pick, Shaquem seemed to have found a home as a pass-rusher/strongside LB, but now he’ll be available on waivers.
An aside: His twin bro Shaquill is in a contract year.— Dugar, Michael-Shawn (@MikeDugar) September 5, 2020As Dugar noted, Griffin appeared to have finally found stable ground on Seattle’s roster, fitting in as Bruce Irvin’s backup at SAM linebacker and providing a spark as a pass rusher.
