On the eve of training camp, veteran defensive end Chris Clemons is planning to retire, according to a report from the NFL Network.
Chris Clemons, a key member of the Seahawks’ 2013 Super Bowl title team who had re-signed with the Seahawks in the off-season, is planning to retire, according to a report from Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
The Seahawks have yet to confirm that Clemons is retiring.
Clemons, 34, signed a one-year deal worth a maximum of $1.5 million. But only $150,000 of that was guaranteed (a signing bonus) with Clemons having to earn the rest, which indicated that it was far from a given that he would make the final 53-man roster.
