Thompson, a sixth-round pick of the Vikings in 2015, was waived by the Carolina Panthers on Aug. 12. The 6-foot-5, 330-pounder spent the last five games of the 2016 season on the Panthers' practice squad.
In 2015, Thompson served stints on the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Detroit Lions practice squads.
