Seattle Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons has informed the team he will retire one day before he players were supposed to report to training camp, according to a Thursday report from NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Clemons had signed a one-year deal with the team on April 1 after he reportedly visited the team in March. He did not take part in the voluntary portion of the offseason program, but participated in the team's mandatory minicamp in June.
The 34-year-old was one of the first departures for the Seahawks following Seattle's 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.
