That the Seahawks gave up 38 points in the first game since free safety Earl Thomas suffered a season-ending injury made that an easy place to point the finger afterward as a cause of what went wrong.
But Seahawks coach Pete Carroll quickly and emphatically said that had little to do with the result.
“That had no impact,’’ Carroll said. “None. Steven Terrell didn’t have a play to make all night long. The ball never went there.’’
