It’s hardly the most important aspect of the Seahawks’ game Sunday against the 49ers.
But among all else that will happen as the Seahawks attempt to right their listing offense, the game represents a matchup of two coaches who went straight to the NFL from the Pac-10/12 — Pete Carroll, who departed USC to take over the Seahawks in 2010, and Chip Kelly, who first left Oregon to become coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013 and after being fired there is attempting to revive his career in San Francisco.
Carroll and Kelly are two of 15 coaches from the conference to go straight to the NFL since 1971, which ESPN a few years ago revealed is by far the most of any conference.
