A split-second decision to run for a first down rather than take a safety may have earned rookie Michael Dickson NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Dickson, who admitted after the Seahawks’ victory in Detroit his game-clinching dash wasn’t planned, takes home his first player of the week award in just his seventh career game. As bold as Dickson’s decision to run for the first down was, it was a nickname he may or may not have been given after the game that received the majority of the attention.
The nine yard scramble aside, Dickson had a relatively quiet game for his mythical standards, punting four times, with two landing inside the Lions’ 20-yard line.
