Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennet continued his protest of racial inequality, oppression and social injustice Friday night by sitting during the playing of the national anthem before Seattle's exhibition home opener against the Minnesota Vikings at CenturyLink Field.

Standing next to Bennett during the anthem Friday were center Justin Britt and cornerback Jeremy Lane.

Bennett sat on the bench at the StubHub Center prior to the team's preseason opener against the Chargers on Sunday in Carson, California. He said after the game he plans to sit during the anthem for the rest of the season.

"I want to be able to use this platform to continuously push the message," Bennett said after the 48-17 victory, hoping to also find out how "unselfish we can be in society" and "how can we continuously love one another and understand people are different, and just because they're different doesn't mean that you shouldn't like them.
