One of the great offensive linemen in NFL history has passed away.
The Dallas Cowboys announced on Monday that former guard Larry Allen died suddenly while vacationing with his family in Mexico. He was just 52 years old.
A second-round pick out of Division II Sonoma State, Allen became the first player ever drafted out of that school when the Cowboys selected him in 1994. Over the next decade, the remarkably athletic big man was one the centerpiece of an offensive line that paved the way for Emmitt Smith to become the NFL’s all-time leading rusher.
