COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Korey Toomer started his NFL career as fifth-round selection for the Seattle Seahawks in 2012, so he's intimately familiar playing in Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator's Gus Bradley's system.
Toomer's teammate Nick Dzubnar spent his entire college career playing in a similar 4-3 defensive scheme at Cal-Poly.
Both will get an opportunity to replace injured teammate Denzel Perryman for the starting middle linebacker job, Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said.
Perryman suffered a left ankle injury that required surgery against the Seahawks in the preseason opener last week.
