A man dubbed the “Rabid Fan Bandit” was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison for more than a dozen bank robberies in Washington state.
The FBI dubbed Robert Cal Adams III, 31, the “Rabid Fan Bandit” because he wore various sports-team hats during the robberies, including one bearing the Seattle Seahawks logo. He was also the mastermind behind the so-called “Buddy Bandits,” a cadre of accomplices — two men and boys aged 14, 15 and 16 — he coached to commit bank robberies while he waited in a getaway car, according to court records.
