Jersey numbers aren’t usually the talk of the offseason, but after the NFL announced changes to the rules on the range of jersey numbers for certain position groups, it’s a tad bit more interesting this year.
The changes to the rules predominantly affect running backs, receivers, linebackers, and defensive backs as they can now wear single-digit numbers. The Seattle Seahawks who took advantage of the new rules this year are Quandre Diggs and Carlos Dunlap II, who both switched to their college jersey numbers, and Ahkello Witherspoon, who the Seahawks acquired in free agency and has worn the number 23 on his back through college and in the NFL.
