After the Seattle Seahawks released cornerback Cary Williams in December, Richard Sherman was asked about the difficulty veterans had learning the team's coverage techniques.
"It can be really difficult," Sherman said. "It was a testament to Cary's work ethic to see him do it. We’ve had veterans come in before, we had [Antoine] Winfield came in and worked as hard as anyone. He’s freaking an amazing player, as you all know. It was difficult for him to acclimate to the technique. It’s just a hard place to come in and learn. That’s why, a lot of times, next man up is usually one of the guys that’s been in the system.
