The defense forced five punts and two turnovers against the vaunted offense. That sounds not too shabby until you realize they allowed 10.2 yards per play (subtracting kneeldowns) and 527 yards of total offense in Sunday’s 28-16 loss.
Head coach Pete Carroll was noticeably perturbed both at Sunday’s post-game press conference and in his Monday appearance on 710 Seattle Sports. One play in particular that bothered him was Brock Purdy’s 4th quarter touchdown to George Kittle, which wrapped up the scoring and slammed the door on a Seahawks comeback.
Carroll: "They were almost like gifts in a sense because of the things that we practiced.
