Inspired by Earl Thomas, Seahawks defense smothers Lions

The Legion of Boom hasn't been right since free safety Earl Thomas broke his leg against the Carolina Panthers on Dec. 4.

The Seahawks' pass defense was ordinary over the final five games of the regular season, with backup Steven Terrell filling in and Thomas relegated to becoming a must-follow on Twitter during games.

Walking with crutches and wearing a hat that made him look like a member of the KGB, Thomas returned to CenturyLink Field before Saturday night's 26-6 romp over the Detroit Lions in the NFC wild-card round.

Seattle's affable team leader then proceeded to deliver a pre-game speech that, according to teammates, would have gotten bleeped out had it been caught by television cameras.
