The Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback situation was one of the top storylines heading into the NFL Draft. Backup Drew Lock went to the New York Giants in free agency, and once again Seattle did not draft anyone. During that span, the Seahawks did acquire former Washington Commanders starter Sam Howell via trade.
It’s already been established that (at least for now) the pecking order is Geno Smith as the starter and Howell as the backup. At just 23 years old and with a full season of experience under his belt, there’s the natural inclination to believe that the former North Carolina star has unrealized potential and the ability to become a franchise quarterback.
